Where Did July Go?

Sometimes life’s demands simply cannot be met by being online. July was that kind of a month. After the fantastic time in Korea, our family was able to get some brief time together at our new home before going three separate directions. Now we’re back together, hanging ceiling fans, painting bedrooms, and carving out some margin to reflect on the past and dream about the future. That feels nice. Too much action without reflection puts us on the pathway to poor leadership in every arena.

Today is my daughter’s 15th birthday. Named after two godly Amys of faith (Amy Carmichael and Amy J McGuffey), I ‘m thankful to see her walking in their steps. All three women possess the ability to leave one culture and bring welcoming warmth into new places. Amy’s bubbly joy-filled personality brings light and smiles into the room and into my heart. I’m proud to be her dad. Happy birthday, Amy. Keep walking strong.

Lesson for us: Regularly take time to reflect, celebrate and reload.

You are so blessed with a daughter like Amy and I’m so blessed to have been able to be good friends with you. And…she’s had a great Dad to look up to 🙂 JIA YOU!! During the first couple of months of this school year…it’s always the hardest time.
