Judy,
As a wife myself, I’m probably biased…but I love your quote.
Yes, I think you CAN be a great leader and a poor husband.
But do you WANT to be?
A husband laying down his life for his wife is a picture of Christ laying down his life for his church. A man who disrespects or disregards his wife is misrepresenting Christ to the world.
Personally, I have found it very difficult to work for men who do not honor their wives. I believe how men treat their wives is a usually a telling indicator of their views of women overall…and so I feel that as I interact with them.
This will be a great topic to discuss with my own (amazing!) husband tonight. I would love to hear what other men think about this, too.

I like the one about telling the worth of a man by looking in the eyes of his wife. Not sure who said it, but they said it better than me. Think it says a lot. Wonder how Mrs. King's eyes looked. Great leader, poor husband. Can you be both?

The quote from M. L. King is so true! It's also the ultimate measure of a leader.
